Compassion & Sonder Artist Workshop
This workshop guided participants through painting and illustration. Particiapnts were asked to grasp their inner artist by understanding creativity can be a way to self compassion. Collective compassion and sonder helps us see that we are both living and healing through very complex lives simultaneously.
Sheanni Sims is an Art Director & Creative Healer whose practice highlights the experiences of Black, queer, and trans femme communities and their ability to impact the world through art. Sheanni's work highlights surrealism, queer black lifestyles, femininity and masculinity while also challenging western concepts within futurism and social constructs.
Black Trans Liberation's mission is to end homelessness and food insecurity in the trans population by providing resources from community partners that empower and celebrate the TGNC community. Black Trans Liberation Kitchen provides fellowship for the community weekly, where dinner and mutual aid are provided.
This event is in collaboration with Judson Memorial Church, a historic church that houses spiritual community through social justice, creative expression, and sacred exploration of its roots and the wisdom of other traditions. Judson Memorial welcomes everyone, regardless of their religious beliefs.
